  Schreck helped Galileo show the telescope to the Medici family and others in Rome. Once he arrived in China, he wrote this work on engineering in Chinese. First printed in China as Qi qi tu shuo in 1627, this is the first edition printed in Japan, with Sino-Japanese notes and Japanese-style illustrations.
