      Summary
The body in mechanical philosophy: Descartes applied the mechanical philosophy to every field of natural knowledge, including cosmology, meteorology, the Earth, astronomy and, in this book, the human body. The human body appeared to pose some of the greatest challenges to explanations couched solely in terms of matter in motion, but in this book, Descartes launched the new paradigm of understanding animals as little machines.
