Aristarchus, the Copernicus of antiquity, proposed in the 3rd century B.C.E. that the Sun lies at the center of the universe and that the Earth and other planets revolve around the Sun. That work did not survive, but in this book Aristarchus demonstrated an ingenious method for calculating the sizes and distances of the Sun and the Moon. This is the first printed edition.
