Summary
Bernardino Baldi was an Italian mathematician whose work gives insight into the milieu of Galileo. This is one of two autograph manuscripts by Baldi held by the Collections. It is a chronological history of mathematics starting from 600 B.C.E., which mentions many Islamic figures as well as ancient and European writers. It concludes with final entries on Christoph Clavius, Giovanni Magini and Guidobaldo del Monte in 1596. The page shown is open to an entry on Copernicus.
