Newton’s mathematical physics established an understanding of the dynamics of the solar system. Newton integrated Galileo’s law of projectile motion, illustrated here by the path of a cannonball, with the Keplerian paths of the Moon and other satellites as they fall in elliptical orbits around the Earth.
