Summary

Greek edition of Hippocrates by a friend of Galileo: Mercuriale collected the various Greek texts of the Hippocratic corpus and published them here in Greek with parallel Latin translations. The title page of this edition illustrates various figures of ancient medicine, including Galen and Hippocrates. Mercuriale’s many other works include discussions of sports medicine, women’s health, children’s diseases, and the black plague. Mercuriale recommended Galileo for a position at the University of Bologna.
